About

Who

Hope Flows is a collective of individuals who want to make a difference. It was founded by Jeremy Smith after witnessing the water crisis firsthand while on a vacation in the Philippines. The organization is currently made up entirely of volunteers who believe in the mission and want to see it expand.

What

We work with local school districts to target schools which have the greatest need. We then survey the school and coordinate with the principal to determine what solution best fits that location. We install wells, cap springs, connect to existing sources, etc. Once the well is installed, we teach sanitation classes and show the students and teachers how to properly maintain the system. We try to keep systems as simple yet effective as possible to make repairs easy and affordable.

Where

Of all the places to work in the Philippines, we decided to focus on where it’s needed most. The conflict-prone region of Western Mindanao is by far the poorest area of the country and development here is greatly lacking. We go school district by school district to systematically stamp out the need for clean water. The map below shows exactly where we’re working and what we’re doing. As you can see, we’re just getting started!

Why

We believe having access to clean drinking water is a universal right. We work with schools especially because we believe that education is a ladder out of poverty, and the more we can create a conducive environment for learning, the greater the net results will be.
